Description
This day gives you the opportunity to explore the south east part of the island with traditional villages and the true life of the residents. The mountains, forest and Gorges let you see the natural beauty.
Starting our journey, we head to the Peristeronas Gorge which is famous for the red butterflies that fly through the bushes and flowers, we are passing through some of the traditional villages where time has virtually stood still and make a break to meet the local people for a coffee in a ‘Kafeneion’ in Oreino and have some time to relax. Valleys lush of olive trees can be seen along the way as well as wild herbs which will be picked for you to enjoy the unique taste and learn about their healing powers.
We continue the adventure going high up in the mountains where we find a combination of the Rocky Mountains, the scent of thyme and sage bushes and get a unique view of the Cretan south sea. After we are meandering through the evergreen Pine Forest of Thripiti where the trees can reach an age up to 1000 years. Before the stomach starts to growl, we stop for a traditional Cretan meal with unlimited wine at a local taverna.
Refreshed we drive to Agia Anna a small traditional church built at the entrance of HA where we stop for some magnificent photo opportunities before we go slowly back to the hotel we have one more stop where we have an amazing view of the north Cretan sea.
This is a day full of many surprises and the excitement is second to none, you certainly won’t forget your fun day out with Safariclub!!
