Description
Our day begins in a traditional lower‑mountain village, where you can take a short walk through local craft shops and enjoy a refreshing drink before we continue. We then head to a magnificent viewpoint overlooking Mirabello Bay, with sweeping views of both the north and south coasts of Crete. From here, the journey becomes more adventurous as we drive through the Selakano Forest and up toward the remote Katharo Plateau, where the roads disappear and the mountains rise to 1,500 meters. In this wild landscape, we stop at a small local kafenio for another refreshment break.
Next, we follow dirt tracks through Goat Valley, where the scenery becomes even more exciting. Our following stop offers a spectacular helicopter‑style view over the Lassithi Plateau, a perfect moment for unforgettable photos.
We then drop down to the plateau for a traditional Cretan lunch with unlimited wine. On the Lassithi Plateau, time seems to stand still: the locals are mostly farmers, and you’ll often see donkeys at work in the fields.
As we make our way back, we stop for a final treat, a tasting of local olive oil.
This is a day full of surprises, stunning scenery, and authentic Cretan experiences.
The excitement is second to none, you won’t forget your fun day out with Safari Club.
